I visited the food famous town of San Sebastian a couple of weeks ago and was absolutely blown away by its beauty, culture and of course - cuisine!
My Dad and his wife have been going on holiday there for about six years and have always raved about the food. So, as part of my Dad's 60th birthday celebrations (which I think may continue for months) we all ventured to the Bay of Biscay for a long weekend.
The weather was downright miserable so my 1940's style bikini didn't even get to have its tags removed. However, being British we soldiered on determined to have a good time and enjoy everything San Sebastian had to offer - apart from the beach. I will do seperate posts for the places to eat as there are sooo many that deserve thorough reviews!
I hope you enjoy my guide to a short stay in the Bay of Biscay.

This hotel used to be a cinema (hence the name) and has remained loyal to its past whilst managing to offer a contemporary feel. There are film references everywhere and each room is named after a famous star or director. As you enter the lobby you are greeted by a waxwork model of the man himself - Alfred Hitchcock. My description may make this hotel sound - for want of a better word - naff, but rest assured these little quirks are tasteful and understated.
The location of this hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Old town so you can enjoy its convenience without the noise. If you are coming from Bilbao airport the bus station is right across the road. Perfect if, like me, you tend to take more than you can physically carry.
